Nearly $3000 worth of GHD hair straighteners have been stolen from a Browns Bay hair salon. About 10 GHD straighteners and cash were taken from Ashley Brown Hair and Makeup on October 11, owner Amanda Baker says.Reflections salon in Mairangi Bay was broken into the Friday before, she says.Browns Bay community constable Paul Donaldson says while burglaries of commercial buildings are not uncommon, there has been "a noticeable increase".At an aggravated robbery at Rodney Wayne hairdressing salon in Takapuna's Westfield Shopping Centre in September a man pointed a sawn-off double barrel shotgun at the receptionist and male manager.He punched the receptionist in the throat and held the gun to the shoulder of the manager before making off with a small amount of cash.No one was in the Ashley Brown salon at the time of the burglary, but Ms Baker says it was still a brazen act.
